About Sara Fargo
For over 25 years I have worked with students on college planning, college selection and college applications. I have extensive knowledge of private and public colleges in California and in other parts of the United States.
I work on an hourly basis so families may use me when services will be most helpful to them. Families meet with me on average between four and six times during their high school years; however, I am happy to meet with students for fewer or more appointments. My fee is $160 per appointment, and appointments are usually between an hour and an hour and one quarter. My fee is $200 for appointments that are one and a half hours or longer.
I am happy to meet with 9th and 10th grade students, and one appointment each year for planning purposes is usually adequate. I normally begin the college selection process with students the summer after their sophomore year, but a few students wish to begin sooner.
Junior year is the college research year when I work with students to identify schools they would be interested in pursuing and targeting appropriate SAT and ACT testing dates. During the summer after junior year and the fall of senior year, most appointments focus of the final college list and the application process. In the spring of senior year, it is often helpful to meet and discuss the student’s final college decision.
I do accept new students at any time in their college process, and sometimes I provide a second opinion.
I also counsel transfer students, as working with students wishing to transfer has been and continues to be a part of my business.
Please contact me with your questions about my services or to set up an appointment.
